I think speed is the need for today. But how fast we can travel? I think that you will say about aircraft's and jet. But you know, the maximum speed record created by an vehicle is in space.  Yes it was an space craft. Unlike air crafts, space crafts are not slowed by atmospheric friction ,They zip through the void of space. With the help of modern propulsion system and using the gravitational forces of sun and planets our space crafts can reach at the speed of 241,000 kph!

That seems fast, but it is only a tiniest fraction of speed of light. The speed of light is really, really fast-299,792 kps. So a question must be arising in your mid that can we travel at more than the speed of light?

Can we travel faster than light?

According to law of physics we cannot defy the universal speed limit. But scientists are doing researches on some technologies through which we can beat the universal speed limit. let discuss-

Warp drive

It is just like the propulsion system of enterprise in star trek. To propel the crew faster then speed of light it will bend the universe around the ship-shrinking space in front of it and expanding it behind. using this drive we can reach the alpha centauri (the closest star to our solar system) in just couple of weeks rather than thousand of years. But in real the model of this ship is only on board and it will take around 60 to 70 years to build this type of aircraft.

Teleportation

I think in this field we have more chance of success. our scientists had achieved this at atomic level they had teleported an atom at speed of light. But to teleport a man, the huge requirement of energy is the main breaker. According to Einstein theory to propel a man at the speed of light it required a massive amount of energy that even exists in universe. 

What will happen if will travel at speed of light?

According to Einstein an hawking's theory we will experience a noticeable time dilation. every object which is moving experience time dilation but it is not noticeable, but when we travel at speed of light we will experience a noticeable time dilation. might after returning from this trip you will be of your son's age!
